The Roberts Gang Visualisation Infographic

After the death of Bartholomew Roberts off the coast of Gabon in February, 1722, over a hundred and fifty pirates captured in the battle were tried at Cape Coast Castle on the coast of Ghana. This ongoing digital project visualises and analyses data from nearly two hundred manuscript pages of trial transcript. Below is a preliminary visualisation of the participants in the trial. Green nodes represent acquitted prisoners, red nodes represent convicted prisoners, and the blue nodes represent witnesses. Blue connections indicate positive testimony, while yellow connections indicate negative testimony.
